Roots Previews FW15

Roots put their FW15 product offerings on display for editors this week ahead of the brand's NYC store opening next month.

With a focus on flat bags, the brand found inspiration from its rich history and assembled the collection with attention on the simple elegance of minimalist design and maximum functionality.  There were also an array of new designs offered in Horween leather, which further establishes the well-received partnership between the two companies. Several collaborations were unveiled including an exciting one with Pendleton that will deliver in November.   

With the collection, Roots nicely demonstrated their effort to create chic, refined leather goods while staying true to the outdoor lifestyle which is part of the brand's heritage.

Roots: Christmas Came Early For Some Loyal Editors

Celebrities Lend Support to Faircloth & Supply's Winter Capsule Collection Launch

Phoebe Dahl, founder of the charitable women's line Faircloth & Supply, had some star-studded help in launching the brand's Winter Capsule Collection.  Evan Rachel Wood, Lily Aldridge, Kristen Bell and Olivia Munn uploaded images of themselves in the new designs to Twitter and Instagram to help draw attention to the business model behind the company and simultaneously (and most importantly) to its mission in Nepal — for each garment sold, Faircloth & Supply outfits a girl in Nepal with two school uniforms, school supplies and a scholarship to attend school for one year. In 2014, Faircloth provided a path to education for 1,000 Nepali girls.

Roots Unveils Spring/Summer 2015 Collection at New Bloor Street Flagship in Toronto

On this crisp, autumnal morning in Toronto, Roots invited the media to view the SS15 Collection at the brand's new flagship on Bloor.  To honor the one-year partnership between Roots and the Chicago-based Horween Leather Company, Skip Horween was on hand to endorse the range of products which boast the gorgeous high-gloss finished leather he developed exclusively for Roots.  In a short time, the brand has done more with Horween leather in the bag category than any other brand.

Faircloth & Supply Launches The Brand's First Pop-Up Shop

Phoebe Dahl - granddaughter of legendary children's author Roald Dahl and creator of the charitable clothing line Faircloth & Supply - is excited to unveil the brand's first-ever Pop-Up Shop in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles.  

The season-less women's collection consists of linen garments beautifully hand-crafted in Los Angeles with every piece is designed to retain its elegance and undeniable charm over time.

For each garment sold by Faircloth & Supply, one school uniform is donated to a girl in Nepal through a partnership with General Welfare Pratisthan (GWP).  The girls receiving the uniforms are then able to attend school, but are also then less vulnerable to HIV infection, child sex trafficking and other forms of social and economic exploitation.

Roots Previews FW14 In NYC

Editors filed in from torrential rains on Tuesday and Wednesday to preview the FW14 offerings from Roots.  The collection is rich with beautiful Italian and North American leathers in vibrant colors inspired by the wild hues of an autumnal landscape.  Colors such as Red, Bordeaux, Cobalt and Sherry mix well with warm tones of burnt browns and cool down next to dusty shades of Grey, Taupe and Antique Rose.

Suzy Amis Cameron hosted a celebration to toast five years of her eco-fashion campaign, Red Carpet Green Dress, last night at Palihouse in West Hollywood.  Suzy was supported by husband James Cameron as well as other Hollywood heavyweights, such as Naomie Harris, Amber Valetta and Kellan Lutz, who will wear the campaign's first sustainable tuxedo on the Oscar red carpet this Sunday.

Melissa Lum never imagined a trip to the Roots headquarters in Toronto last November would result in her becoming a designer if only temporarily, but that's exactly what happened.  

When the group of editors where led into the Roots Genuine Leather Factory - the brand's factory since its inception 40 years ago - they were invited to customize a bag, and after Melissa's super chic backpack received so much attention, it was clear it had to be put into production.
